i dont know, the bottom should bolt up fine, but the 250 may have a longer cylinder and may not bolt up to the top. But someone told me it will bolt up.do you have the 250 motor?

Default Help with lt230s

It will fit but I don't think it will bolt right in, it might but not sure. The 250 just has a bigger bore. Anyways halfway through 1987 the 230s lowerend (after the serial# 117324) was changed. So the 1989 and 90 LT250S Quadsports had the same lowerend as the 230s with the engine serial#117325 on up.
Hope this info helps ya bud.

The 250 Motor (providing your LT 230 (229cc) is 85-86-87, and the 250 is an 89) should bolt right in. I believe that even the 96 king quad top end is the same, other than the cam ,and the compression, i believe everything is the same. That would get you up to 280cc (300 jug) instead of 246cc (250 jug). Also, if you could find it cheap, you wouldn't have to shell out big bucks for the 265cc big bore kit.

The Quadsport 250 was only produced for two years but it was pretty similar to the 230 since it was the same frame and engine. The 250cc's came from boring out the 230, the stroke should be identical as should everything else in the motor. If you can get the cylinder for cheap then it's just a matter of a new piston, rings, wrist pin and bearing and your ready to go.

The frames were the same in 1985 and 86. I am almost 100% positive the front motor mounts were changed in 1987. The 250 motor would not be a direct bolt in. The front motor mounts on the 85-86 had a plate that bolted to the frame, and then the motor had a bolt that went through it. On the 87 and up, the plate was welded into the frame and just used a through mounting bolt. I looked into putting a 91 motor in an 86 frame and I think it would be fairly easy to make the brackets needed.
