hwyTOhell1988,
The Z250 is a Sport Quad for Any and All ages, whether it fits into anyone's personal criteria of what a "Sport Quad" is supposed to be or not. Just because it is not on the upper end of the Sport Quad performance scale, doesn't mean it isn't a Sport Quad. Trust me, I have the Official "Sport Quad Rule Book" sitting right here in front of me.
My wife wanted a Z250, because it fits her better. She has spent many hours on my KFX400, but doesn't feel comfortable on it. She really likes her Ozark, so the Z250 was just a natural progression. Trust me, the Z250 is not the same as the Ozark. We have both and the performance of the Z over the Ozark is noticeable in the engine power, suspension, handling, balance, shifting and overall feel. My wife has been riding Motorcycle/Quads for longer than I have. She grew up riding 2 wheelers with Manual Clutches, so the Clutch issue had nothing to do with her choice.
The difference between a Manual Clutch bike and a Centrifugal Clutch bike is "ONE Hand Lever". I would hardly consider that to be the definition of what makes you a "MAN", or whether a Quad is made for Children or Women.
There are some other issues to consider when purchasing a Quad.
1. The Blaster is a great little Sport Quad, but it is EXTREMELY Dated. You can put Disk Brakes on it, and new plastic, but the platform is still ancient. The old technology does effect it in several ways. It tends to overheat on slow technical trail rides. The suspension (At least for bigger riders) will bottom out on even smaller jumps. The tires are from the 80's 3 wheelers and should have been upgraded years ago. The limited ground clearance causes it to get high centered when going over obstacles. Once you put cornering ability, jumping and overall handling characteristics into the equation, the playing field swings in favor of the other Quads in the class.
2. With the Blaster you have a Kick Starter, the Z has Electric (Start in any gear) starter. The Blaster has a parking brake that is good for about a week, then never works right again without constant adjustment (Like many rear Disk Brake Quads), the Z's parking brake works great with no adjustment needed. The Blaster doesn't have Reverse, the Z has Reverse with a simple to use Reverse ****. With the Blaster you need to add 2 Stroke Oil (Either to the pre-mixer or to the fuel), with the Z you simply add fuel and go. Maintenance wise the Z is easier to maintain.
All of these things go into making a choice as to which quad to buy. Top Speed is seldom achieved and should be way down the list when it comes to the most important feature of a Quad. Too each his or her own, they (Blaster and Z250) are both an excellent value and will give the rider more than enough bang for the buck. I personally like the Blaster, we have 2 of them in our group of riders, I just wish Yamaha would upgrade more of it's out-dated features. This however would affect the price and unfortunately, the 2 Strokes are coming under fire from Big Brother, and their days are numbered, so I doubt that Yamaha will invest in any upgrades for the Blaster.
Anyway, the idea is to have FUN and ride what YOU want, regardless of others views and opinions, including Mine.

blaster in any gear too. my parking brake works fine and I haven't replaced the pads once. The blaster isn't meant for big riders or slow technical trail rides. My blaster handles just as good as your wifes z250, and i'm sure that if a big rider jumped the z it would bottom out all the time. Yeah the blaster is small but that is a good thing. It weighs 40 pounds less than the z. Not having reverse sucks in tight trails but that's the only real place you need reverse. The blaster has alot more mod potential too. No one could ever make a z250 pump out more than 30 horses. A blaster with a pipe, reeds, and a wieseco piston. could crank 30 horses I would much rather have a kickstarter than an electric starter. Have you ever had to walk a few miles home because the baterery died or a fuse broke? I have and it $ucks. That kickstarter has never let me down like bateries have. I guess that these quads are made for different kinds of riders.
Blaster MSRP- 3199
Z250 MSRP- 3899
p.s. the ground clearence does $uck on the blaster and the stock tires are g@y.

I have the suspension on my Z on the softest setting and I haven't come close to bottoming out. I'm only 120lbs, but I have got some big air on it. All a heavier rider would have to do is change the suspension settings with a twist of a wrench.

There is no way in hell a Blaster can put out 30hp with just a pipe, reeds and a Wiesco piston. That would be nearly double stock HP. You really should stop posting. You hurt your own argument a little more every time you hit the reply button. If a Blaster was so much better than the Z250 you could post real facts instead of exaggerated BS.

well check out this website and see what a blaster makes just with a toomey pipe and airfilter.
www.toomey.com then click on the b1 pipe for the blaster. some blaster pics and a dyno will appear.

I am 170 lbs and have jumped the Z250 many times and have never bottomed out. As with any bike, you mod it and it will go faster. If I wanted to I can take it to sparks racing and make it beat a stock Raptor after he is done with it. If you got the money you can make a bike faster. Its all in how much you want to spend.

Look guys, I tried to end this post earlier but if yall want to keep debating on how much better your z250 is I can't stop you.
the blaster is a better quad for the money if you are 14 and plan on making it faster.
the z250 is a better quad for a begginer that doesn't know how to use a clutch, a person that is too lazy to kickstart something, a person that wants a more laidback trail ride, a wife, an old person, or some rich boy little punk that thinks it is a real sport quad. How are you going to learn how to drive a clutch if you have a four wheeler that doesn't have one. Do you think that you can just step up to a z400 and expect it to have an auto clutch? It's better to learn the clutch on a tamer motor than the z400. And if you can just step right up to a brand new z400 right after you get tired of your z250 you are one little punk a$$ rich kid. At least you didn't buy a 250ex.
