I just bought my daughter an 85 lt125. my problem is it has no 3rd gear. all the other gears work fine. I have a clymer manuel but not even sure where to start. All help would be appreciated.

It could have something to do with the shifter fork being out of alignment, or the gear may not be lining up

 

I agree with the shift fork.

Most likely bent or broken.

Could be a stripped gear, but highly unlikely unless this particular motor has a history of same and usually a stripped gear will be first or second because thats were the torque stress is highest.

Does it have a removeable oil pan or pan/screen?
