Default Piston & Compression

Just had both Hotcams & a 12.5:1 high compression piston installed on my z400. I'm told that the DRZ base gasket will raise my compression to about 13:1. What kind of problems will this high of compression create? Thanks in advance.

You're gonna have to run race gas with compression that high. I'm sure that you will have to replace pistons rings and gaskets alot more often than stock compression.

Run a good race gas and there should be no worries.

as long as you run at least 100-105 octane gas you should be fine. remember detonation is the number one killer when running high compression. 13:1 isn't all that much so you shouldnt have to worry about many reliability issues. so good luck and run the right gas.
