Default Z400 Reverse

Sometimes when I go into reverse it will haul and sometimes it acts like it has a reverse speed limiter. Does it have a limiter and if so, what am I accidently doing to overide it?

if im not mistakin if you only use a little throtle it will fly but if you pin it and dump the clutch it hits the rev limiter...its not a matter of speed its a matter of rpm

I've noticed this same thing. It sucks because when you need some rpms to get out of some deep sand or what have you, you need some rpms.

Yes there is a limiter.

Do a search on reverse and look at a post by screamin400 or something like that.
A member named freakazoid posts the directions, I used them and it works great.

Cant the tranny get messed up from going in reverse too fast? I know cars can get messed up, but then again, how much alike are quad and car trannys?

No, like Polaris, they don't feel that you need to go that fast in reverse so they put a limiter on it for safety reasons. Obviously they have never been stuck in the mud with it. I don't believe you can due any major damage to it.

My old 250X was like that, kind of a PITA. My Mojave is nice in that it doesn't have a rev limiter. It is for rider safety, nothing else.

None of you have ever experienced a LOUSY reverse until you've tried a Warrior...MY GOD!!! Revved all the way up as loud as that pipe will blare, and all in all going about 1.5 MPH!
