i was talking to Andy Noble here in the UK who is the British enduro champion, and he tells me not to change them as it can end up bending the main steering stem.

Has anyone else had this broblem??

Like i said, I removed the stock tie rods and inserted steel rods into them that fit nice and snug (cost $2). That was about 7 months ago, and I haven't had a single problem since. I really beat the hell out of my steering during riding, hard tight rocky trail riding and a lot of jumping. I suppose his theory is sound, but how often do you want to replace your tie rods?? The steering arm is a lot stronger material than the cheap aluminum tie rods, I don't think you'd have to worry about hurting it, unless you really beat the heck out of your bike, and in that case, you'd probably do more damage than just a steering link.

That's only considering the value for "peak" horsepower.
You really need to consider how it affects torque output throughout the engine's operating range.

First I would get a good full exhaust, filter, and rejet then go with supsension mods...The baddest motor in the world is not going to do you any good with a stock suspension!

You can but all it's going to do is make it louder....very little power gain at all. Do the exhaust and a 155 main jet and it will feel like a totally different bike!

Thinking about a z. I own one and I will tell you to also consider making it stronger. It Does not need a lot to be competive on a track as long as the riders are evenly skilled. The bike is not very resilient. Beware the tie rods!! They will bend very easily at high speed rough riding. We run the desert tracks mostly and some cross as well. only took seven months to go through a timing chain. It is a good bike, and we can run with and ahead of banshees, raptors, and the new yfz.
