LT 160 Problems
Having trouble with an older model Suzuki LT 160. I don't know the year model, but it is one of the older ones w/ the front & rear racks. It smokes pretty bad. If the gas shut-off valve is not turned off after running the motor, the motor will not crank. I mean during as short a time as an hour after it has been run. I've been told this could be due to low compression. Also, the transmission seems to be slipping. It lags when first taking off & then seems to "catch" and go on after a couple of seconds. Anybody have any advice on what to about these problems? Thanks

LT 160 Problems
I haven't had those problems with my little brother's 160. I don't know much about engines, but I'm guessing the reason for having to shut off the fuel is that it is flooding the carb. As for the transmission slipping, are you sure it isn't just the way the engine revs? I have noticed that with my little brother's that it takes it a few seconds to get its revs up and finally get really moving and accelerating.

LT 160 Problems
The carb. overflow was plugged w/ a piece of stick! I guess someone in the past didn't want gas dripping on their garage floor. Hope this helps with the problem about the gas shut-off. (Guy at the repair shop suggested over the phone that I check the overflow line; guess he's seen this before)
MBrooks420: The smoke is white. I'm carrying it to the repair shop tommorrow to get carb. cleaned & clutch adjusted.
