QuadSportFreak, yeah, i got the alum. RCM system, the little bit of instruction on mounting said to grease the silencer and didn't mention a clamp. i see what you mean by the thickness of the aluminum and lack of a relief cut to squeeze it much. doesn't seem right to not use a clamp (especially now that i bought a nice little band clamp at a shop and pulled it out of the package already. DOH!)
i haven't had a chance to fit it up yet.

Cheapest go fast is Alum DG RCM for $125. K&N filter, and you can then go into the motor, and do the following:

-Webcam (all around performance, or midgrade, if u want a revver, get the midgrade cam) ($105)
_crmoly valve springs, or if u wanna shell out the extra money, get the titanium (70 something...)
_wiseco piston kit ($90.00)
_might as well throw a mickey dunlap oil cooler on if ur gonna do all that ($95)
_gonna need a new clutch with 25-30% more power ($90)

_stayin with a non H.O. Scrambler 500 as he's flippin ya the bird

.......priceless

well, i thought i was gonna have the beast running today but i went to bolt up the exhaust and discovered a crack in the headpipe. glad i saw that before i had it running.
called Dennis Kirk and they gonna cross-ship a new pipe.
i've been working on this thing for nearly 2 yrs so i guess one more week isn't gonna kill me.

that sucks it always seems just as you are done you run in to some kind of snafoo, get some pictures up when this thing is done, i noticed that you extended the swing arm, there is a guy on ebay, who does a-arm extensions, and they look really good, and give the bike a nice wide racy stance, for about 90$

hopr to have new pics posted next weekend. i fabbed a small headlite into the nosepiece and i'm pretty happy the way it turned out.
the ext. swingarm i got was made by Westcoast back in prolly '85 or '86. it was brand spanking new when i bought it. Westcoast stopped making atv aftermarket parts around '90 i think. they're still in business but they just make stuff for pwc's now

Most of what I've done is in my sig except the rear shock..I got a rear from a '90 LT250S and I'm having it rebuilt and installing a progressive rear spring..should have some stock LT230 graphics in place once it warms up too..

My 230 I've had for only a month. The previous owner messed things up more than fixed them. Now I'm going through it section at a time. The engine is good except valves need tunning. Electrical is garbage, patched up mess. Front end is good except worn bushing at bottom of stearing shaft. I plan to ride and restore which makes it more difficult than just stripping it down to the frame and making it like new. If I keep up with it I should have a nice looking and running quad by the end of summer.

Hey AtomicPunk: Did the 250S rear shock bolt right in on yours? My 85 has a blown rear shock. I have one on the way that is suppose to be good but I'd like to watch for other model shocks if they are available as well.
