Yes- I read about it first in a magazine, Dirtwheels- in the last 6 months and now that I look into it a little deeper it's becomming more true. Speaking with one motorcycle he says that as of 2006, their will no longer be any 2 strokes sold for their inability to comply with EPS emmision standards. This was also one of Clinton's last minute deals was to pass this EPA crap banning the manufacture of all 2 stroke engines by 2006. This includes dirt bikes, weed eaters, blowers, etc. They already have 4 cycle leaf blowers out there that are not much bigger if at all than a 2 cycle unit.
I used to think that Suzuki and everyone else disontinued 2 cycle ATV production because of the collective stupidity of the public- you know, buy something the kid can 'grow into' but end up killing himself instead. But they really are getting a hair about it up there. Thats the latest I know-- I'll keep ya posted with what I dig up....

I think a bunch of forums should put together a petition and send it out to Suzuki and let them know just how great the "RETURN OF QUADZILLA" would go over for sales (not to mention racing). At least I think it would go over awesome, could be wrong, but I doubt it. Let me know what you guys think.

Banning two-strokes, I knew it was comming but this is just too soon!!!! I mean even sleds? They cant, Id never ride a 4-stroke sled!!! Theres a new oil called blue marble that makes 2-strokes pass emissions, produces more power, and is better lubricant. They should make everyone use that. Its better than banning 2-strokes!!!

Why is EPA looking at new emission controls for ATVs?
Our analysis shows that ATVs emit more than 381,000 tons of hydrocarbons
(HC), 1,860,000 tons of carbon monoxide (CO), and 11,000 tons of
oxides of nitrogen (NOx) each year across the United States. These
emissions help form smog and contain toxic compounds such as benzene,
so reducing them would benefit our health and environment. The
Clean Air Act requires us to set emission standards that address these
problems. These impacts are described in more detail in FAQ: Environmental
Impacts of Recreational Vehicles and Other Nonroad Engines
[EPA420-F-01-030].

Me being the engineer I am makes me question your data... How were the studies conducted?
How accurate is your analysis?
I've seen way too many 'reports' from you enviro-****'s that were skewed with bad/missing/incorrect data...
I have nothing against wanting a clean enviroment... however I firmly believe there are alterior motives for these tougher restrictions.

There not banning 2-strokes in general. It is that they have to meet the EPA standards buy certain dates. I have a New Ski-Doo 800H.O. and it is EPA ready for 2008 and the new Skidoo SDI motor is supposed to meet EPA standards for 2010. So its not that 2-strokes are going away its just that Dirtbikes and ATV don't sell as much as Sleds do so there is no R&D for the ATV and Dirtbike's out there. If anything you need a petition to get more R&D for ATV's and Dirtbikes
