Default YFZ450 replacing Z400

Being the die hard Suzuki owner I have been for 14 years, I hate to say the Z400 is going and a YFZ450 has replaced it. I loved the Z but when it comes to just hauling *** at the dunes or in the desert, it just didn't have the power to keep up with the big bore 2-strokes.

First impressions of the YFZ450 without the pipe installed is it hauls compared to my stock Z. I expect a dramatic improvement with the pipe has everyone else has. Haven't really had a chance to test the handling yet. The seat is very hard!! As most everyone agrees, the Z has a nice seat setup.

Although this isn't gonna kill off Z400 sales, it (along with the Honda) are gonna take a bite out of them. I don't expect Suzuki to throw their new 450 into a quad anytime soon.

The YFZ nor 450R will be replacing my KXF. My quad is too much fun and practical. The 400 can do it all, but if you live and ride in the dunes then I can see reverse not being necessary. For tight trails and woods the Z is in its home element.

ive heard numerous problems about the yfz and the stupid thing is that it takes super unleaded only. if your going for a 450 defenitly get the trx450r no doubt about it

thats why you dont go with a ZZZZZZZ anything. no z400 or z250...sheesh. ill take a stock LT and beet that zstuff outta here. take a worked LT with couple g's into it like that yfz has (6 or 7 g's retail) and youll be right there with it
do you even own an LT250R, stangGTMX? ride it, own it, maintain it. modify it, Then look at the people with the new bikes that aren't 17 years old, the reliability, handling, ergonomics, frame geometry, suspension design, aftermarket, etc... is all much better than a quadracer. If you want power on a Z400, go into the engine, you'll find plenty. Now, if you've got an LT250R and you want good suspension, you basically turn it into a new bike, except your comfort and ergonomics are still stuck in the 80s as well is your reliability, and your wallet is empty. to each their own, I understand. but your comment seems a bit out-of turn.

anyway, guido. sorry to hear you're jumping boat! I almost jumped the boat myself when I sat on that YFZ in the showroom, but instead I just dropped a load of coin into my LT. Was that a good idea? maybe not. hehe. If Suzuki release a 'racer 450, I'll be the first one to buy it in Canada!!

So now that you're no longer a Suzuki rider, you should give the domain "quadracer.com" back to the quadracer community! You haven't updated that site in a while it seems. Are you going to shut it down, now? I think I know of someone with a lot of quadracer info who would like to have that domian name.

I've had some good time on the YFZ since the first post and it is an awesome quad!!! I was at Dumont dunes and it whoops on most quads at the hill. I loved my LT's but they have nothing on these new quads. But then again, they first came out almost 20 years ago.

As for the people complaining about super unleaded, so what? Most people add a high compression piston or mess with the head and have to run at least super unleaded or racing gas anyways. At least with super unleaded you can get it at any gas station instead of tracking down racing gas and paying $5+.

As for the Z, it is a nice quad but it took more work than I wanted to deal with to make it as fast as a YFZ. I would rather pay more money and not mess with the engine to get it where I want.

I'll keep quadracer.com but if anyone wants to buy it, speak up! I sold atvworld.com about 4 years ago for $3000. With inflation, I think about $10k will do

4 years ago you could sell anything that ended in .com for a few grand. Quadracer.com is alot less marketable, unless suzuki release their 450 and honors it with the name. I know you've probably lost interest since your LT's have been replaced by Z's and YFZ's, but you (or someone else) should make a killer archive of info on the old zukes on that site.
