FMF Fatty?
#1
I was wondering if anyone has gotten the FMF Fatty pipe for the 85-86 LT250R. Is it actually a Fatty or just a plain Gold Series? I am a little confused from different ads I have seen as to whether it is the Fatty or not. Dennis Kirk advertises a Fatty (Moto) pipe but other ads don't specify that much. Anyway thanks for the help.

Yes I had the FMF fatty pipe for an '86 Lt250r and it was excellent! It really isn't like a dbike fattypipe, it is just a gold series, but it is still an excellent power increase. In fact, when I bought my '87 Lt250 I put an fmf pipe on it as well and I love it. So go ahead and splurge, it is well worth it. I might also suggest a port job and rebuild when you get the pipe with maybe reeds as well. You'll love the power.

I'm pretty sure for the LT's the FMF Gold Series and Fatty are one in the same. Go with the less expensive shop. I was fortunate enough to get my FMF Gold Series for $80 at the Chapparral parking lot sale a year ago. Since I added this new pipe it really has made a difference in the performance, and it sounds neat too. I also bought the spark arrested muffler, which the whole package sounds nice, but is not so loud that you can't think / go deaf while riding. It's actually not much louder, just sounds better. Depending on the price range you are looking at, there are many other companies who make pipes for LT's. another guy in the forums was looking at CT and LRD pipes, but are going to be a premium pipe with a premium price.
Have fun!
