Default Did I get a GOOD deal on my VINSON 500??

Well, I decided to buy the Vinson 500...I liked the looks along with a few features that I feel topped the Kodiak 450, such as the aluminum alloy wheels, the headlight on the handle bars and the fully encased axle. This is my first brand new atv and I'm curious to see what prices are like elsewhere.

The final deal was for an '03 brand new....I got it for $6,000 out the door. It also included a 2000lb Warn winch and 4 years extended warranty.

With that said...DID I GET A GOOD DEAL???

Quadfather,

The dealer that I bought mine from had a camo '04 there as well...Its an awsome looking atv. I think they were asking $6,699 for it...I'm assuming I could have got it for about the same price as you did. Its unreal how much more they charge for the camo packages, don't you think? I can't justify spending an additional $300 just for the camo.

Did you get any accessories with yours? Or extended warranty(thats what I liked)

How do you like it so far?

Sounds like a good deal with all the extras. One thing I don't understand however is people asking if they got a good deal AFTER they departed with their funds. It's sorta like getting married and then asking your family and your friends if the woman you married is right for you.

FC,

I actually just put money down on it and will pick it up on Monday. I'm just looking for feedback on the purchase I made and hopefully like what I hear. Thanks

Human nature is to check yourself against everyone else to see how you did. Nothing wrong with that. Problem is there are many variables that may make one deal look better than another. Location, side deals, state taxes, etc that usually aren't mentioned when somebody just posts a number. The OTD number could be less if a person financed it. The dealers will take less OTD for the atv knowing they'll make more in the interest.

In my case when I bought my atv in 99 comparing my deal to a guy (at the same dealer) just a few days earlier wouldn't be fair, I just lucked into the day the dealer wanted to flush inventory. I made out like a bandit, well below all the other dealers in town at the time. So my deal sku's the average because it doesn't happen every day.

If you think you priced other dealers and feel you got the best deal then be happy. Comparing to a person across the country isn't the best thing. Way back when I bought a YZ250J. In Houston they were going for $2100 (way back...early 80's). A neighbor was coming back from the west coast and was looking at the bike. Long story short the Mont Clare, CA Yahama (sp?) sold me one for $1700. Even removed some parts to get it in to our friends Surbuban. They sold so many the cost was way less than houston.

Good Luck,
Rob

That sounds like the same deal I got when I bought my 03 vinson. I could of saved $200 if I felt like driving 2 hours to a different dealer. Like most people it's not the good deal , paying the going rate is o.k. , but nobody wants to get screwed! So if if you walk into the dealer after doing your research you will know if you are getting screwed. I decided to support my local dealer, he wasn't trying to screw me on price, he's there when I need parts, any accesories for the next year are 5% over his cost. But the most important thing is on those bad weeks or when new models come out you can stop by the dealer and sit on , sniff or even lick the new rigs, just to put life back into prospective again. PRICELESS. ( This is different from strip joints, where the policy is " you can sniff but don't lick"

I'm having that dilemma right now. I want the Vinson, but the local dealer wants $6,200 for it (only 30 minutes away). I've called 4 different places and one quoted me a price of $6,899, I almost fell off my chair!!! Of course the furthest dealer away (2 hours) said she would sell me the Vinson Auto for $5199, I would be stupid not to travel that far to purcahse it right????, or should I try to get the local dealer to come down, it sounded like he was giving me his best price. Traveling 2 hours sounds like a long ways and how about if I need to get it serviced??? I just can't believe the difference in prices from one dealer to another. Any suggestions???

it is all a matter of how the dealers cash flow is that year, and the profirts they are making. back in the end of 01 early 02, when i got one of the very first vinsons, they were 6,800$ they gave it to me for 6500$ with a winch. also lower the price of my rubicon, being i already got a bike from them.
