I have a buddy who has a lt500r and needs another case, because one side of his is cracked. Does anyone have one he or she might want to sell? I think it is the right side that is cracked.

Get it welded. It's cheaper.

We took it to a friend of ours that is a snowmobile and high performance small engine machinist and he said he was afraid it would warp the case if he welded it. The crack is right were the case splits. He did say he might be able to glue it with some special kind of glue. He told me the name of the glue but I can't remember now. Thanks

Thanks i'll try them. If we can't find one we will glue it but we would rather have another case. We just don't want to have to break it down again any time soon.

Please send your case to someone like Trinity or LRD. Those guys can weld the crack and most importantly machine the bearing recesses to the proper size and location. LT500's are terrible about elongating the bearing recesses. LRD did mine and I havn't had any trouble in over four years of hard riding. They machine the holes larger and press in brass inserts. I don't recall what it cost but while you have it apart it would be money well spent. If you have an 87 mdl send them the head also and have it o-ringed while the bike is down. If it is newer don't worry.

Thanks I will tell my buddy and see what he wants to do. We did however find a case at eastcoastatv.com for 300 dollars so he has some decisions to make. Thanks again.
