The quadracer family not in shootouts!?
#1
When the ATV magazines do all these speed shootouts, it seems the Banshee and the Honda 250R are always there. They are just as old as the quadracers (LT250 & LT500). Why cant they be in any shootouts? Millions of people own them, and id like to get an idea of how they compete with the new quads comming out.

Three reasons:
1. It's not a Honda
2. Hard to find a clean stock model
3. I don't know
I really think it would be cool if they did another high-performance quad shootout. Except I think ATV Sport should do it, since they seem to be the most honest and accurate. They should include the DS650, 400ex, Banshee, trx250R, lt250r, lt500r, and the Tecate (I hope I didn't forget any). They should all be as close to stock as possible, but of course the older ones might have some different parts on them from age, but hopefully nothing that helps performance, durability, or handling.
They should test them in dunes, xc tracks, mx tracks, tt tracks, hill climbs, trails, and maybe even on the dyno. They should include present & past pro racers, that not only raced MX but also guys that raced XC or desert, as well as the regular editors and some normal trail riders. They shouldn't have one winner, but they should take about where each machine did best and what type of riders would probaly do better with each machine. Then have the best "overall" machine for varied terrain.
All of that combined with quality pictures & writing, and it would be a great article. Sure it's wishful thinking, but I can wish. True you can't buy 1/2 of those quads new today, but the fact is that there are a lot of people trying to choose between a '00 Banshee and a '89 250R, (or substitute another model name) regardless of if it's new or not. Trail riders & racers alike all want the best for their terrain and riding style. No the 400ex isn't best for EVERYBODY, nor is the 250R or Banshee. But right now, newcomers or "seniors" both don't many resources to help them decide what to buy. Fortionatly, we have this forum though.
Hopefully by time out dream shootout starts to take place, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki will have their new 400 & 250's to include. Hehe, that's more wishful than the shootout happening. :-)

Why do they always include the banshee and 250R in shootouts. I've never seen a shootout without both of these..its not fair!

I own a LT500, but I am interested in the LT250. How does it compete with the 250R? Is it a well handling bike? How about power of the 250? I always see people jumping them for some reason..alot easier to jump than my 500R. If the mags wont do the shootout, how about us? I have limited experience racing against other machines, and would like to know what you think the strong points and weak points are of both of these quads. Compairing to other quads, in the areas of handling in woods, sand, jumping, drag racing, top speed, stability, trackable power, weight advantage, and suspension advantages. Lets compare the LT250, LT500, 250R, DS650, BANSHEE, and the 400EX.
Lets get it on!
