I own a stock 1988 Quadsport 230. I think its a great machine and looks excellent too. Some people say they suck and aren't reliable, but those people probably didn't maintain their machines properly. I'll admit that it doesnt have a lot of top end, but I ride in the woods and don't use top speed that much anyway. I love the "thumper" four-stroke exhaust note. I think that some two strokes can be very annoying. But my two favorite features are the disc brakes and reverse. Anyone else who has a quadsport post here about yours, your mods, and your opinion on it.

I too have a 1986 Quadsport 230.I am also pleased with the looks and the low end torque.I have a 11tooth front sprocket for more power and a twist throttle. My only complaint is the shocks.Bottom out way too easy. They are lightweight and make a good midsized woods bike.

I too have a 1988 230 Quadsport. I love the rumble of a 4-stroke. Reverse is nice and so are the brakes. I agree about the shocks. I got a 13 tooth front sprocket for more topend.

Yes, the stock shocks to bottom out easily, but we can't forget that these are 12-14 year old shocks. They've served past their lifespan. Another good feature about the Quadsport is that it looks good and is a different from everyone else's quad because where I live, nearly every kid has a Blaster. It's good to be different.

I'm not putting anyones machine(s) down, BUT... I own a '86 230 and it is the worst thing on brakes I have ever seen and it is "Gutless!"
Yes, I have kept up the maintainance, I also agree the stock shocks are too weak. The best thing to do is to get some good tires the stock tires are also not worth the money, the best tire I've had so far is mud vampires and scorpions for a more of a back road travel trail type ride.

What I don't like about my brakes is you have to break earlier before hitting a curve.Thats even after new EBC pads all the way around. They never fade though. They are a whole lot better than a Blasters or drums. My disc is probably shot also.

Just to let you know I owned an 86 and it was good, kind of ugly but good for its time. Then I got the 1990 it was bad @ss the best quadsport made, it was a 250 blue and white and looked great, they came with a better rear nitro-gas charged suspension and the lt250r type wider seat. I personally had to buy another for a race bike and they would both haul. My race bike had a Web Cam, Titanium valve springs, overbore with Arias High Compression Piston, Cobra RCM Pipe, Durablue air filter, Durablue wheel spacers,Holeshot XC's, and a larger carb. It was mean to say the least. But alas I have since traded them both away. But I do think if i ever see one again I will ****** it up just for another Playbike.

I own an 87 230 Quadsport, and it's a BEAST! this thing can kill warriors with pipes and dyno kits, 300ex's, 250x's, trailblazers, and oh yeah BLASTERS! it's been all bored out, new carburator, topend, and bottom end rebuilt last summer, i still have the stock shocks all around, just adjusted and moved, back end lowered by durablue. new DG racing pipe, nerf bars, mudscreen bumber, renthal bars, K&N air filter, and even better! IT'S FOR SALE, don;'t get me wrong, it's a great bike,. i'm just "retiring" from atv's for a few and need to sell it, for 2000 in OHIO

My friend had a 85 230 Quadsport. The shocks on it were worn out. It was bored 20 over. Stock everything. Then it broke the rod one day during a ride. Needless to say the quadsport isn't running any more. He did tell me that someone might fix it.
