Well, I have an 03...just picked it up a week ago. So far so good. Has a good power curve, and goes well in the snow...until you hit the deep stuff. The fit and finish seem to be very tight. No complaints from me. Good luck with yours.

was just on atvnation and there seems to be some kind of tranny problem
with the 03 5speeds. I wounder if the 04's have been fixed of this problem.
Maybe the auto's are the way to go. ihaven't found any complaints about
them anyway. Not sure what to do now.

I bought my '02 Vinson automatic more than 2 years ago before the 5 speeds came out. I love it. The 5 speed is going to be more responsive than the auto, but they handle great. Very comfortable and you can go forever on a tank of gas. I prefer to ride the Vinson rather than the V Force in tight woods because it is more nimble throught the twisty stuff. It is an outstanding trail machine and no problems. I've never had anything that was easier to start than the Vinson. It fires immediately every time without hesitation, no matter what the temperature or how long it has been sitting.

I was considering buying one too & read about the tranny problem , so I called a local dealer to hear what he had to say. He said he did have a couple of machines with the problems mentioned an the atv nation site. He said it only affected a certain # of '03's because he followed the vin #'s. It ended up being a certain part in the tranny which was a couple of thousandths over size and was causing the machine to jump out of gear, hit faulse neutrals, and the shifter to stick. He also said they figured out how to fix it and the machines have been fine since. Sorry I don't have more details, he was talking over my head.

Sounds like a dealer who knows his stuff. I spoke with a Suzuki dealer when the Vinson and Eiger first came out in '02 and they had some problems with the first Eigers that came out. He was speaking very highly of Suzuki and how they took care of the ones that were bad. Apparently they gave new replacement quads to the few affected with a flaw so they would not have to wait on repairs.
