Default 150 mile service visit for Eiger

Yea, I think I will do the work myself. Can't see spending that kind of money. I wouldn't even think the diff fluid would need changing or is is best to do it. Thanks

I think the need to change the diff fluid depends on the type of riding you do (Although at 150 miles you really shouldn't need to). Since I spend most of my time in mud, I change mine 2 times a season (start or end and midway through). Have heard a lot of people say they get water/mud in thier diff (not sure if it is true or not and haven't heard anything about the Eiger yet) and for $8, better safe than sorry.

So far, the fluid has looked good (no water/mud/crap).

My manual does not call for the differential oil to be changed, I believe it says at 2000Km It is sealed from water and mud, so only reason I would do that at 150 miles is if I thought there was a problem. Two things I noticed when I was doing this for the first time.
- those littel plastic fender lock fasteners are breakable and difficult to reuse. Oil change was really a lot of work considering, due to poor set up
- there is a gree nipple in the back universal joint on the drive shaft. Owners manual says nothing but I greased it anyways. Could not see if the front shaft had the same?

Sullivad, If you pop the inner fender loose the filter is easy to get to. The rivet just pop in and out pretty easily. They are expensive to replace at the suzuki shop, $1.49 ea, but the hondas are 49 cents.

I know it doesn't say that I have to change the fluid. It is just a precaution that I take. Several people in our club have had problems in the past. It is just added security so that I can say that there are no problem (looking for early warning signs).

As for the plastic rivits, they SUCK! I am still trying to find a better solution to that problem. I currently only have a couple of them in so that when I get home after a ride, I can get it apart easily enough to clean it good.

Also, I'll take a look tonight on mine (it's apart for a cleaning) tonight and see if I can find a fitting. My recollection is that I couldn't find one before.
