Ozark 250 Owners--Input Wanted
Hi.
I am looking to buy my first atv. I am an adult guy--6 feet and 180lbs.
I like what I read about the Ozark 250--a good starter 2-wheel drive atv. I can't afford bigger and more expensive atvs at the moment.
I plan to ride on logging roads and fire roads and no mud or jumping, etc.
Three quick questions:
Would I fit this machine? Yes bigger, faster, would be better, but will this work?
I have heard of Ozark frames cracking. Anyone had this problem?
Tell my your thoughts--good or bad on this machine!
I would like to get started, then maybe pass this down later to my girlfriend.
If anyone is my size and riding, I would like to hear from you.
Thank you.

Well im not quite 6 foot, but you may feel crammed on it. Go to a dealer and see if you can test ride one. A lot of dealers have a demo for you to ride, if they believe youre serious about buying. They arent a full size frame quad. They really arent kids sized either. If you plan on riding all day, you could end up with a sore body from the cramped riding position.
It wont have any trouble pulling 180 lbs, and they handle very well for a utility quad. The steering and brakes ar very good and so far, mine starts and runs flawlessly.
My frame hasnt cracked, but im not a very agressive driver, and havent done any big jumps.
Another plus is the long range gas milage, i can easily ride 8 hours on a tank of gas, something the bigger quads cant do.

While not the "ultimate" bike for your size, I think it will work fine for you. I'm 6'-2" and 200 lbs. I've 'borrowed' my wife's Ozark for several trips and had a great time with it. I was not cramped on the 'zark, although I did not have as much room to move around as I do on my Eiger. It's a great ride - good power and high fun factor. Mine is an '02 with no problems at all.

I think the Ozark would be an excellent choice for you. Don't let the size of that little bike fool you. I'm 5'11 and 195 lbs. and it still had NO PROBLEM hauling my butt over 50 mph. Unless your use to a big bore sport quad, I think you'll enjoy it. I know I did. Its the best "1st quad" ever made............

I have a foreman 450 and my wife has an 03 ozark that I use for "sportier" riding. I am 6' 200lbs and It does feel small, but compared to my foreman, it is. However I find it far from uncomfortable, So far it has been an awesome bike. I am a very aggressive rider and just spent a week at the dunes in Florence Oregon. The ozark felt a bit down on power at first, but since breaking in, I can now pull wheelies in second. The suspension is awesome and handled most of the woops I could find. I found out that it will start to bottom out on anything over about 4' of air, and that is what will cause frame cracking. My frame is fine so far. I don't know about doing 50 plus though. on the flats my forememan will outrun the Ozark, though not exactly a walk away. However on the fire roads, the ozark Easily outhandles my foreman and will flat outrun it. Bottom line, The Ozark, for us has been a great bike, fun to ride, no big complaints, other than the darn steel wheels bend too easily when meeting big rocks at speed

I'm 6' and don't feel cramped in any way on the Ozark. Dollar for Dollar, I believe it to be one of the best entry level ATV's out there. When we go out on trail rides, my wife goes anywhere we go on hers and in many instances, makes some of us look bad. If I want to go for a quick spin in the woods, I will jump on the Ozark 9 out of 10 times over the rest of the quads.
We have an 02, and have had Zero problems with it.
