Z400 Oil Tank Overflow

Z400 Oil Tank Overflow
I have a curious problem, anyone have any ideas?
When I check the oil in my tank, it overflows (most of the time). When I changed the oil everything was fine. I checked the oil after running the engine for a short time. It was where it should be. Then I checked it while I was on a ride. It overflowed. It was hot, so I thought that had something to do with it. I put the cap back on and kept riding. When I got home after the bike was cool I checked it again. It overflowed again. I changed the oil and filter thinking the filter might be clogged and was backing up the oil in the tank (I didn't know what else to think). I filled it correctly. Ran it a few minutes. Checked it again. All OK. Then I checked it right before taking it out the next time and it overflowed. I quickly put the cap on and went riding anyway. The bike is sitting in my garage right now, and if I opened the oil tank cap, it would iverflow. Any Ideas? I have run the bike many hours in this condition.

my thought would be that the oil is staying somewhere in the engine and then drains down after some time and that would cause it to overflow. id let it sit for a day or so and drain the oil. leave the drain plug out for an hour to allow all oil to drain out the motor. then put a new filter and oil in. see if u have the problem after that

after you put in the correct ammount of oil you are supposed to start your engine for 3 to 5 minutes then wait 5 minutes then check the oil. it should be on the full side so dont fill up your dipsitck all the way to the top at first. i agree these things are a pain to change the oil. there are 2 tanks or something
