Which two-stroke to buy??

should just be able to pull the side cover, pop the new seal in, an put it back together. you may need to add oil after you do this, or if your antifreeze/coolant goes through that side cover, fill your coolant up.

Well folks thanks for the advice. I am buying the 1992 lt250r. Its in much better shape (except fadded plastics) paying $2400 CDN
The guy with the trx250r decided he is going to sell it on ebay, so i said good luck with that and walked away.
Ok I gots a question for you guys now. Had the quad running, and heard a minor tinging noise comming from the engine. Is this normal for a 2stroke quad? (not that loud)
I am used to sleds, but new to two stroke singles. Any input would be appreciated.

LTs make a weird pinging noise when they run. I've had three and they all did it. My current LT is new from bottom to top end ( rod, Crank, Bearings, Piston, etc...) and makes this noise. But a worn clutch basket will make a rattling noise, Not a bad thing but can be anoying and will need replaced eventually.
The LT was a good choice, I think they make a much better woods bike than a honda. They have more low end torque due to the power valve, they are wider and more stable, Have a larger more comfortable seat, and are cheaper to fix when you have to buy parts.

i would go for the LT250r, not only that is is newer, but like QuadSportFreak says, all the bugs are worked out and is better. I am no expert but i think the LT is faster tha the TRX. If only the back tires are bald, that can mean 2 things, the owner wraps the ShIz-NuTs out of that motor which is not good, or he like to power slide a lot! All in all, all you need is a weekend and some sand paper and polish and that thing will be PERFECT! If you get the LT and decide to sand the rust off, buy sand paper 80 and sand with 80 grade first then move to 220 grade and then paint it, it will be brand new.
By the way, just about all LT250r's are only worth 2500 or less, for 92 and down, they can't be worth more than that unless they have a shiz-nut load of after market parts.
