Default Need advice!! 86 quadsport!!!!!!???????

I am looking for a quad for the wife.......I found a 86 quadsport 230 in the paper for $400 , runs but needs work....Can anyone give me some info on the quads? Electric start? Chain drive? Reverse? Power? How is this quad as a beginner/ intermediate bike? Thanks guys.

Great bikes for a starter i have the lt 230e which is the elctric start but they have a kick start version.they all have reverse.Also when you buy it checkout the swingarm bushing they are know for throwing chains they are good reliable bikes when u get one running.offen the top ends need work.if you find one that doesnt smoke consider yourself lucky... sounds like a fair price too.

my dad bought one for 1500 that was perfect a few years back some have auto clutch and some have manual they are very good wheelie machines and have very good suspension as i can remember

Yeah i have an 87 my swingarm bushings are bad so it throws the chain but it runs good it is pretty fast but easy to learn on and the reverse is extremly convient
