Problems with a Z...any help
#1
My friend has a Z with a jet kit in it for a Yoshi pipe and air filter. I dont know the sizes, but i think its a Dyno jet kit. He put his stock pipe on, and it still ran fine, although im sure it would run better with the stock jets. But just this last week he started having problems. He went to start it and it wouldnt start. He said he smelled gas and when he looked in the oil tank he claims he has gas in the oil. I dont know for sure if he did or not. Well we put oil in it and it still wouldnt start. He cleaned the plug and it finally started and ran for a day or so. Then while i was riding, it just bogged down and wouldnt run worth a hoot. I dont see why it would run so fine for a couple months with the jets in it, and then all of a sudden not work right. It will start and idle, but when you go to rev it, it just bogs. We tried to even out the jetting by takin out the spark arrestor and air box lid off, but it still does it. Any clues on what to do?

According to the manual you need to flip the carb over and while the float arm is touching the needle valve measure the height with calipers. The height should be 13mm +/- 1mm.(.51in. +/- .04in.) You just bend the float arm if it needs adjusting. Hope this helps.........

Sounds like the same thing as mine. When I turn it to reserve it would run fine other wise when you revved it, it would just bogg down. I fixed the problem by cleaning the fuel lines and the petcot and that fixed the problem.
