I'm going in the morning to look at a '92 Quadracer. The guy bought it brand new, only aftermarket is an FMF silencer. Still on the original tires, not even any scratches. He rode it a little in '92 and '93 then it's been maybe twice a year. He estimates its got 60-80 hrs on it. My question is, would $3000 be out of line for this machine if it truly is like brand new? I'm not real familiar with the LT's...any comments good or bad. I'm also going to check out a Banshee, 250R(been raced) and an '87 Tecate(full race). The Tecate is priced at $2000 obo which may be tempting...the guy says he has beat 2 DS650's and always the Banshees, but it was stripped for racing when he got it(lights, ignition switch, etc.) Any comments?

Thanks,
Steve

I know parts for the Tecate's are expensive, and getting harder to find every day. You can never go wrong with a clean 250R, good power, great handling in every type of terrain. If you are a skilled rider, Banshee's are a blast, but handling and maintaince require a bit more skill that on the other machines. The Suzuki sounds like a killer deal. The only drawback to them is the less than perfect frame. I have only ridden one 91 and the handling was good enough for what we were doing. (fast fire road racing in the mountains) If you don't go to huge on the jumps, you will be OK. For a recreational machine(no motocross) I would go with the mint condition Suzuki. Let me know how it turns out.

ridzhard, I bought the LT250 yesterday. It looks like a bike that was ridden for 6 months then put away in storage. Everything is stock except for the silencer...original tires, chain, sprockets, no missing fasteners or bolts, and all perfect condition. He said it's been in storage for over 4 years...once I got it home last night and cleaned the dust off, WOW it shined up like new. These bikes had some wild looking factory graphics and seat cover design. I got it for $2800 with Sand Skate II's on Douglas wheels that look new, and a helmet custom painted to match the graphics. Man I've always heard everyone comment on the crappy Blaster brakes, but I never gave it much thought...when I test drove this LT I stabbed the brakes to test them, and literally almost went over the bars. Excellent brakes, wide stance, adjustable suspension, huge rigid swingarm, good stock power just waiting to be modified...this things 10 times better than the Blaster and it cost me $700 more than what I sold the Blaster for. Man I can't wait to get home and do all the maintenance stuff, then really see what this thing will do.

Good for you. I hope you get a lot of ride time on your new machine. I just got home last night from Farmington NM. I picked up an 88 HONDA 250R that is in almost as good as condition as your Suzi. I got tired of waiting for the new machines that will undoubtedly be heavier four-strokes. Ride safe, and often.

That is a nice lookin machine. You just gotta love these old two-stroke bikes. Light, fast, good handling. Let the new bikes be big 4 strokes, these machines define high performance.
