I heard that the z-400 had problems with the frame cracking..is this true...did they fix the issue??

 

yes, they had some frame issues in the early '03 models. they added a sub frame in the late '03 models to fix the weak frame. In the '04 models they also changed the chain adjustment a little, but no big deal. I bought a '04 and i love it!!!!!!!!

 

If you type in "z400 frame" in the search, there are tons of threads on it. They say they were weak by the front shock mounts. A lot of people are adding a gusset kit to their frames if they're going to be jumping.

 

I have two seasons of hard a$$ desert riding on my 03, with no problems. I did install the Arens Bros. brace after the first season, just to hedge my bets.

In 03 there were frame issues but rumor is they were fixed in late 03 through 04 models.
One of my friends owns an 03 z400 and he has had no frame issues but his problem has been the axel.
He has bent his axel 2 times.The first time he took it back to the dealership and Suzuki replaced it for free.
Now its bent pretty bad so I think hes gona get a Lonestar axel.

I have had no problems with my 04 KFX400.
