Eiger jetting, stock is 122! WAY too lean
#102
yea I got ya..less air=goal of less fuel or it be too rich at elevation. So would ya say the Eiger being too lean down low in stock configuration is about perfect then up high?
If the silencer addition doesn't affect much or not at all and but the airbox does I might be as lean up high as the stock eiger is down low? which is usually too low?..lol, argh
Yer right though on not modifying things too close to hunting season.

The re-jetting doesn't require any mod's to realize a performance increase. The carburator is lean from the factory because of emissions and varied elevations. If you did nothing but re-jet, you would see a substantial power increase. Changing the airflow via airbox mod and or air filter requires rejetting even further. Changing the exhuast flow in turn changes the intake flow which necessitates a jet change. The "jet" and "needle" are two seperate parts that work hand in hand. When you "re-jet" you are simply changing the "jet" and not the needle. The jet is simply a "fixed orifice". For example. a "133" has a larger orifice than a "122".
Sounds like you've made some "mods" whether or not you realize it. Jetting up to a 128 or 130 at sea level will put a smile on your face. At high altitude you will be way rich. There is less air at high elevations; less air requires less gas.
FYI; if you haven't read earlier in this thread, the Dynojet uses a different numerical system to identify their jets than factory. Here is a copy of the cross reference to help save some aggrevation.
dj118 = k125
dj120 = k127.5
dj122 = k130
dj124 = k132.5
dj126 = k135
dj128 = k137.5
dj130 = k140
dj132 = k142.5
dj134 = k145
dj136 = k147.5
dj138 = k150
dj140 = k152.5

Yup Chuck.. I realize the dj kit needs cross ref'ed and everything you said sounds right on but for the mods. I have no mods yet except for the guy before me loosing the 'needle jet' (not the 'primary jet'). In essence I am wide open with an inordinate amount of fuel available on throttling up as if the needle is not even there. Is why machine does about 10mi to the half tank. Is funny cause the thing ran a 4k' loop surprisingly well with good power and acceleration..just the dieing upon coming to stops from low idle was issue. That was brung on of course by the stuff that always finds it's way in the carb on these things. When stuff gets clogging in them they apparently can do a flip flop of being able to run when choke is on versus dieing when it on. Believe me I will be working hard on this thing in a few days to get it right and then bringing tools on my trip just in case...I usually hunt the Sierra's mainly for blacktail and muley by way of Sacramento. Sometimes that means going real high. Ever been to Bodie?

Bodie ghost town is where most tourists go. But we go on past up the mountain for high country wide open spaces type hunting with spotting scopes when we have tags... http://www.mountainzone.com/mo...detail.asp?fid=710545
One year I had 5 monsters in the scope at one time going up over the top at day break. We jumped a few more small ones going up after them. Later on down the store we saw pic of a 4x4 with a yard stick spread that was taken that very morning. My bro and I unknowingly drove deer up one side of a mountain for the hunters up top. Come to find out there a 4x4 /atv trail up the back side. Was good year for us though and we both scored. I spotted bro's deer about a mile off and it took a good hour to stalk up on it over very confusing terrain. Is just saddles full of sage that loods different once your in it.
But anyways, ATV's can really compliment this type of hunting where your goal is to get high early and move on when things are scarce.

Sounds great! Just be careful out there. I looked at the exploded view of the carburator and found the needle jet you talked about. Didn't know there was such a thing, pardon my ignorance.
I just bought a Leupold compact spotting scope on ebay this morning. Cabela's had it for 399.00 plus shipping, I scored it for 360.00 with free shipping. I've tried almost every name in optics and it seems that Leupold has the most consistent quality and reliability. Everyone else including the expensive "Euro" brands are hit or miss.

Turned out the Moose Racing repair kit doesn't include needle jet or the main jet tube. That puts me that much closer to being out of time in having to wait for one.
Leupold is big on gun scopes, unsure about their spotters though. Good names in optics are swarovski or zeiss. I go with 80mm objective and lanthanum eyepieces.

Well I took the plunge. I installed a 140 jet opened up the air box and removed the silencer. I also took about an inch off of that diaphragm spring. I can tell a major difference out of the hole but after that there is nothing but popping spitting and sputtering. I can't believe I let you guys talk me into screwing up my perfectly running Eiger.. Just kidding. I have checked all the normal stuff including the vacuum/vent hoses and I don't believe that is it. I am only about 600-800 above sea level, and I backed the fuel screw out to about 2.5 turns. The only thing I can think of is I took too much off the spring and the slide may be opening up too early. Anyway there are all the facts PLEASE HELP!!!
