lt250R cdi trouble??
#1
hey guys, does anyone know how to troubleshoot for no spark...i need to know which wires to expect voltage from , from the magneto to through the cdi and to the coil. I have voltage out of magneto but nothing coming out of the cdi on the wire that goes to hot side of coil .Any input is appreciated ...i would love to actually ride this summer.

i had to check all mine with ohmeter. everythings checkable except the cdi, so check everything else first.
oh crap your the one without the manual eh ...hahahahah your gonna make me type it all out one fingered .
1987 and later
pickup coil black and black/ white 175-265 ohm
power source coil black/red and black/white 315-475 ohms
lighting coil yellow/red and black/white .5-1.0 ohms
primary resistance coil itself left ground screw on coil to plug wire 0-1 ohms
secondary resistance coil itself right ground screw and black wire 12000-18000 ohms
for accurrate readings components should be atleast 68deg F and be sure to check all your wiring before you start this for broken wires and make sure your black and white wire is grounded good luck again. remind me send u a manual for xmas to save my finger from typing hahahah

ebay, rem 86 cdi is diff from 87 and up,dont ask me why. i had one but needed it on the 90 motor i put in the 86 frame. i found the whole stator assembly, headlight, wiring harness, tail light,coil,regulator,cdi,on/off switch at 67 bux.it took 137 to win it but hey i think it was worth it . and clymer has a decent wiring spec and schematics. thats where u got those lol

hey im in the same boat as projectquadracer, i juts bought a brand new ricky stator for an 86 lt250r, i connected all the wires and im still not getting any spark, maby i need a 87+ cdi box, since the stator looks similar to the 87+ stators?

well i ohmed all the stator wires and none of them seemed to be close to spec...thats kinda annoying though i figured it would be just one of the coils not all three of them...your not supposed to kick the motor over are you ? im fixin to but im not gonna use the kickstarter! hahaha 1987lt250r you got any other suggestions dude?
