Ever since I bough my Vinson a month ago I hear a clicking noise when I use the foot break. Has anyone heard of this before or know what is causing it?

 

I have the same problem... But here is where you can start.
1) Check your rear break shoes. Make sure they are not worn out allready. The shoes that come stock with the machine are junk!!! You will be lucky to get a few months out of them. If they are worn ...change them.
2) Make sure your emergency break is adjusted properly and working
3) Check the rear caliper itself. Make sure it isnt loose in any way shape or form..


I get this clicking noise every so often. It anoying and it seems that something is deffinetly flawed in the design of this set-up. I also get a similar noise when trying to get out of bind.(in the mud) IN REVERSE. And its not a reverse rev limiter cause there isnt one on the manuaul shift vinson.

 

Yes, seems to be the nature of the beast. The clicking is slack in rear drive train and is noticable under hard braking...or if you get a lil wheel-hop while spining in reverse. Mine has done it since new also!

 

Wheel hop/ gear lash noise in reverse plages my Eiger as well. Kinda ticks me off.

I get the same noise using the rear brakes down a hill if the tires break loose.

Oh well.

 

I just got my Vinson back from the "First Maintenance" and I asked them to look at my breaks. They said it didn't click when they tested it so they couldn't fix what they didn't see/hear. I'll have to check again when I ride next.

 

It's the nature of the best. It's a collection of auto/ebc/shaft. Lighlty applying the fr. brake helps. If it's any consolation, my bud's Prairie does it too.

 

My Z250 does something very similiar to that if I use the rear brake to hard or lock up the rear brake. What my theory on it is the autoclutch hasnt had enough time to start sliping or sumthing. I know what I mean in my head I just cant type it out.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img]
