Trimming my front fenders
#2
I did the fenders on my kid's Blaster. What I did was map out where I wanted to trim them, taking into consideration the structural strength & stability once it was cut, and used masking tape to pick out a look. Then, I covered the fender with masking tape, drew my cut line with a magic marker, and used a plain ol' saber saw (you know, uppy-downy jig saw) with a medium toothed blade that was shallow front to rear so I could turn a tight radius with it. Don't drink any coffee first! Relax, go slow, and the saw (which mine is variable speed that I kept on slow to mid speed) will eat its way thru very easily. Follow your line with a smooth fluid motion. When it's cut, pull the tape and your cut line will be better than you think. Trim excess with a sharp utility knife or a file, and I then took 100 grit sandpaper on a block and did the edges to make them all nice and even. Your work will look like a pro did it, then you can brag about your skills in the lost black art of plastic work.
