Yagger great post. You brought up some great point that nobody seems to address. It's own class and the sport quad thing was dying downat the time. I'm just glad it came back.

can anyone help out a new guy beat a yfz450, I just put a brand new Trinity Pro Mx kit on but cant seem to tune the darn thing in correctly? when my buddy and i raced (new motor) for the first time...he stays with me untill I hit about 3rd gear and then its all over for him. I s there more i can do to gain more of an advantage over this (4 STROKE)? All help would be greatly appreciated~

700hemi, to answer your question, yes the Zilla has a better power to weight ratio than the YFZ. However, the YFZ supposedly has the best power to weight ratio of any 4 stroke made. At least that's what they advertise in the magazines. Thanks to the Zilla, they have to put that 4 stroke disclaimer. Also, the DS 650 is sometimes advertised as the most powerful ATV engine made. Again, thanks to the Zilla, they can't say most powerful ATV engine ever, only the most powerful engine being made today.

There used to be a list of power/weight ratios of nearly every ATV on MacDizzy's 2 stroke website. Zilla was at the top. I can't remember who was second, but at the time I think it was the Banshee or Canondale 440 (YFZ may not have existed yet). But either way it was a relatively distant second considering how close 2nd through about 6th was.

Another important thing to consider about power/wieght ratios is the rider weight. With no one on the quad, the Zilla's ratio is the best. Plus, the more weight you add, the better the Zilla's ratio will be compared to other quads because it is also has the highest HP. For example, let' hypothetically pretend that the LT80qsport had 30 HP. Without a rider it's ratio would then actually be better than the Zilla. (30/220 = .136 versus 52/392 = .133). However, add just a 50 lb rider and the new ratios are 30/270 = .111 versus 52/442 = .118. With just a 50 lb rider, the Zilla has already got a better ratio. The more the rider weighs, the more the Zilla ratio shines compared to any other quad. That's why some very light riders don't feel quite as much difference between a Zilla and other sport quads. But a 300 lb rider will feel a huge huge difference.

What your saying is I can forget about buying that new exhaust and shovelin back the pizza, KFC< McDonalds and beer and my zilla will feel faster. Yeehaw, the diet is off!!

JUST ANOTHER REASON WHY QUADZILLAS' RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
