Default 86 LT250R freshly rebuilt

Hi again. I have an 86' LT250R
1.) I have a K&N Filter, and a full FMF exhaust. Where should I start for jetting?
2.) Where can I get a new rear brake rotor cheap, preferably new but used might be OK??
3.) How should I adjust the chain?
4.) What fuel/Oil ratio should I run? I run only high quality 2 stroke oil (usually Yamalube)
5.) Should I worry about the wheel bearings? They seem fine, is there any way to lube them or check them easily?
6.) Where can I get a new clutch cable?
7.) Where can I get a new or used air filter "top". Right now I can see straight into my filter

How much smoke should be coming out of the exhaust. Mine is smoking quite a bit at 20:1...

20:1 gas/oil ratio is just a waste of oil. I run 50:1 and it runs perfect, no smoke or anything. www.rockymountainatv.com has good preices so look there for a brake rotor or if you want used look on eBay. You can get a clutch cable at rockymountainatv or just go to your local suzuki dealership. You will feel a wobble when the wheel bearings go out so just wait until you feel that. And for the air filter "top" you will most likely just have to get a whole new air filter.
Good luck with your LT. I have the same year and pretty much the same set up as you and it is awesome.

1) Nobody can tell you what your jetting should be. Depends on temp, altitude, humidity, engine mods, etc. If you're running the stock carb, start with something rich (safe) like a 250 or 260 main and go down from there.

2) New - Rocky Mountain, Suzuki dealer. Used - Ebay, East Coast ATV.

3) Loosen the 4 pinch bolts on the back of the swingarm. Turn the axle bearing carrier until the chain slack is about 1 inch, measured in the middle.

4) Run 32:1. Yamalube will still smoke a little at this ratio, but alot less than at 20:1.

5) Wheel bearing are sealed and do not require lubrication. With the quad off the ground check the wheel for play to know if the bearings are bad.

6) Suzuki dealer.

7) Do you mean airbox lid? At a Suzuki dealer. The K&N should have come with a 'cap' that covers the end of the filter. Keep in mind that adding or removing the airbox lid will affect the jetting.

Jerkbucket. I am very interested in buying your airbox. Check your private messenger or email me at
newbikekiller@yahoo.com with details.

Temperature. Probably normally in the 70 degrees range. Give or take as I live in michigan. Humidity, varies. Engine mods, only .30 over wiseco piston, nothing else. Full FMF exhaust.
Seeing as my ATV has no tachometer. How should I check the jetting at certain engine RPM? Wing it?
Is the only thing you guys normally changed the main jet? Aren't there some pilot and needle jets I should worry about? I do have a stock carburator.

Don't worry about RPM, what you're concerned with is throttle position, as in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full. Read this!
