Some Q's about the King Quad 700
#51
well well well......i just watched that video and read their review...whoop de do...i didnt see that kq do anything easier than i could do on my peaks..or even on my z400 for that matter...what i saw was no all to impressive...the rider was still using a hellacious amount of body english and from what i could tell sliding that thing around is non-existant....i mean maybe it would be better in rock climbing..and might have more top end..but i still think a vtwin has it in low end..where it was "wheeling over those rocks with a blip of the throttle"...i dont think so..it was a rounded off whoop lookin thing that i could get my dads foreman to do the same thing on..not impressive...and big deal if it goes 72 mph...you aint ever gonna hit that on a real trail...and if you wanna take them to a track of some sorts with fast tight turns...peaks-p700 all the way....and theres more...i dont know if any of you have dealt with modding a fuel injected motor before..i have on my gsxr750...to get any noticable gains from a pipe, or kn, or snorkle mod, you need to buy a "power commander", which is a piggy back unit to the ecm to aid in controling the air fuel mixture, or you can hope that you can find a place willing to try and reburn the ecm and than everytime you bolt on another part be ready to reburn it angain and the only way to properly do a burn is thru testing different curves per your set up and do repeated runs on a dyno...big dollar for either way... also who know what the capacity of the stock injectors is...they may be set up and running at the maximum percentage of their duty cycle already..meaning that if you mod it out and manage to upgrade the pcm/chip...you will still see nothing in the way of hp gains due to the fact that you might be flowing more ait but no more fuel, resulting in a lean conditon....then its time to try and find larger than stock injectors....same thing if this quad has a fuel pump like a majority of efi things....it might be maxed out or near maxed out in stock from to have any more noticeable gains time for a new fuel pump too...hmmm all i see is dollar signs everywhere..and if i am correct i dont believe anyone is making injectors, power commanders, ecm burns, fuel pumps for these and it'll be quite some time before they are because thses are things that take many hours even months to put into production and if/when they do come out its gonna cost big time dollars. so have fun with no aftermarket goodies for quite some time. and then be ready to take out a second mortgage to add 5 hp...oh and even if someone releases cams...or you get the head ported out..same thing no real gain without modifying the ecm, injectors(if necessary)..etc.

oh and one last thing i know i dont have a computer capable of doing ecm burns.i think i just ebayed my quad dyno.....damn. so i guess you guys are outta luck cause not everybody has one. hell no one in this area does, and dynoteck will buid you one..for about 30 thousand dollars.

hmmm if i wanted that many electronics, i guess i could just throw a laptop up on the front rack of my Peaks LOL!
As far as the EMC Module, burning it and modifications such as bolt-ons....
As soon as u add a mod to it and get something reburned, chances are its going to make a lil red light flash letting you know something is off......how do u suppose that will effect your EFI????????
i see wayyyy to many complications for a machine that hasent even come out yet. Sure the SP700/800 is the same as all other quads with EFI are but u really needa get over all the HYPE about a certain machine that NONE of U even have any *** time on yet!

Sounds like your sold on the KQ. Did the reviews push you over the top? I know that video makes the wait look like it's going to be worth it but at the same time the anticipation just grows. Lets hope for an early Sept release!

It started when kisssofdeath noticed how high the BF seat was, and also how narrow the BF is.
A lot of forum members are getting burned legs with the BF.
Some people are getting too much water in their airbox with the BF.
A lot of other people noticed that the weight distribution was very unbalanced to the rear on the BF.
It seemed like kawasaki rushed the BF out and didn't spend as much time on the design. It just seemed to me that Kawasaki is not selling to the same crown that care about more than just power alone. I try not to even ride with people who are stupid enough to say "I'll blow right by you". That type4 isn't very bright. Some people really don't know how to ride or have fun riding, of how to make and keep good friends.
That is not to say I do not want speed. But, my prairie has enough speed. If this KQ can beat my prairie and has all the best features I want - I will get it.
I was rather excited about the video when I heard that it doesn't go "SPLAT SPLAT" like a rincon. Also, I was happy to learn from the other review that the engine does not vibrate. This KQ is simply awesome from a design perspective.

well when it actually gets released here soon, we will see JUST how much R&D really did go into it!
Its really going to have to prove itself with the Peaks/Prairie and Brute out there.....
