Damit all you people!!! I had a final decision almost worked out and you all come along and make him cornfused again(grrrrrr). Suspension on the blaster SUCKS period!!! We are talking begginer here people, read the all posts before you reply with stupid advice.
300EX= chain and clutch, but ugly
Blaster=chain and clutch, but the SUSPENSION SUCKS!
Z250=shaft, autoclutch, but... well I cant think of anything bad right now
The whole point of all that is to say the Z has a little bit of all worlds. It can handle anything a begginer could through at it. This is going to be a begginer that needs a quad to develop his skills. One cant develop skills while worrying about chain adjustment, mixing gas, or having to use a clutch. All that comes later.

my one friend has a stock 03 blaster...and my other friend has a 300ex...I like riding them both. From what i have noticed, they are just about even in speed, they are both WHEELIE machines, ( i rode a wheely on the blaster the other day, started in 1st gear, and ended up almost topping out in 6th but i ran out of road ), but i can ride a really nice one on the 300 too. Lets see, in size the blaster is a little smaller, but both still very comfortable. I have never felt a real need for reverse or electric start so that doesnt affect me. Both handle very well but i would say the 300 is a little more stable due to the bigger size. For a racer, i would go with a blaster due to the huge aftermarket, and the special classes they have for blasters. For the trails, i would go with the 300. Thats my opinion, but either can race and trail very well.

What makes you say the Blaster suspension sucks so bad? I've seen Blasters take on some pretty nasty jumps, and landings. What can you learn by having a zero maintenance bike? When you have to adjust, and tool around with things you learn mechanicals, and how things work. Blasters aren't premix. There is nothing wrong with starting out with a clutch. You will most likely have to learn to drive one anyways. Even if the Blaster suspension isn't up to par, that can be fixed. Probably for the offset in price. They can be expanded a lot more than a Z250 could ever be. The best way he could make his decision is if he is presented with all the information and decides for himself, not someone saying "everything you are comparing sucks, except the bike I happen to ride"

don't plan on keeping up with the warrior in any kind of racing and the mojave will beat the z250 in racing also, but not as bad. However the z250 will run right with them two in the trails if not run better.
