Much better with out washers if you get right set up. If you are running with out when you are supposed to need it take it apart before it breaks apart. it will cost alot of money if you wait to later. Trust me I have had one come apart before and it was not pretty about 700 $ later i was finally riding again and I did not put that BS back in.

you need the washers up top.....end of story. The washers at the crank DO NOT keep the conrod from floating side to side. they only keep the needle bearing from floating. you have to have the washers up top on the wrist pin. they are the only means to keep the conrod from moving side to side. If the corod floats to one side, not only will it rub on the piston and/or crank, it will not stay centered over the needle bearings, which is a grenade waiting to happen. The washers are flat on one side and counter bored (relieved, pocketed) on the other. the counter bored sides face in towards the conrod. THEY DO WORK with Wiseco pistons. the Wisco piston is made to replace the stock piston(which is engineered to use the washers). The dimensions of the space between each side of the piston where wrist pin resides is the same on both stock and Wiseco pistons. So those thrust washers must be used as in the stock setup. They should be replaced with each top-end rebuild. Don't mickey mouse it....you'll regret it.
