eww! Broke wheel stud!
#1
I just broke a wheel-stud on the front of my Z250 trying to take it off because suzuki used to much lock-tite! So what do I need to do to fix this do these press-out, or screw in, or what? Should I take it to the dealer?

Take the wheel off and get a hammer and punch and just knock it out. (check to make sure it doesn't hit anything on the backside of the hub and that you can get it out without taking anything else off) Get you a new one and tap it into place with the hammer. When installing the wheel, tighten that stud up and loosen it a couple of times to make sure you've gotten it pulled up tight. Check it after riding it awhile. THATS IT!!

I dont want to break the hub hitting it with a hammer, I hit it a few times then got scared I would break it its shaped like this '' + '' and the studs are on the little arms and I dont want to break one of the arms off because then I'll be in a little trouble.

OK, First things first.....
Have you got a replacemant stud?
I do not believe that Suzuki offers studs alone, they do not for a Z400, I doubt they do for a Z250. They sell only the whole hub with studs in it already. Honda sells studs seperate, they are slighlty larger in shoulder than the Zuki. Just drill it out bit (the next size only)and it will be fine. The Honda studs are about $6.00 a pop.
The best method to get the studs out is to use a press to pop it out, most of us do not have a press, so use the hillbilly press.
Which is a 1" or about socket (1/2" drive) set the socket on the bench, open side up (make sure its on a very hard surface, wood will not work), and place the hub so that the stud will drop into the open part of the socket, and get out your BFH (5 pound sledge) and give her hell.
To install new stud:
Go put it on your freezer for few minutes. Use the same method as removal, but flip the hub over, so you are pounding it in the right way. Be careful of the threads, this is why its wise to use a press. When you are banging on that stud, the threads can get buggered easy (maybe buy 2 just in case). If you use a piece of hose that fits over the threads, it will help.
The freezer actually shrinks the stud, it will make it go in easier.
Good Luck

Is the diameter of the actual threads the same as the z400/z250? I wont be able to fit it into my rim if its not, or do you mean the part that actually taps into the hub is larger? Thanks for the idea on getting the old one out too, I really wasnt sure how to go about doing that.

I am not sure, do you use a 17mm socket to get lugs off?
It was just the shoulder that was larger on the Z400, the threads are identical. I highly doubt the threads are different, just the splined part of the stud.
