PLUG CHOP ACCURATE?
#1
Called my local zuki dealer and presented himn with the issues I'm having. He told me that "with todays modern fuels checking the spark plug as a cross reference when jetting is inaccurate." This seems like a load of BS. Anyone else ever heard this?

I think it will always be fairly accurate. But when I was jetting my Z, it was giving some false readings when I was way off. But when I was close it seemed to be giving good readings.
It might be a technology thing, because on my ex that was all I used to see how it was doing when tuning it unlike my Z.

His wording might be off, but I wouldn't say he didn't know what he was talking about. Plug reading is obsolute when there are affordable Exhaust Gas Temperature meters. I'd much rather jet with one of these, ideally on a dyno.

Your dealer is correct! Plug readings are unfortunately old school, from the days when gas was leaded. Unleaded gas does not give an accurate plug reading! I have read this many places. I will try to scare up a reference and post it.........
