Default 2005 King Quad Overide button?

I have a new 05 KQ and when I put it in the Diff LOCK mode and LOW range, with the OVER-RIDE button pushed in,the engine still SPUTTERS.I dont remember IF it has done this before or not,but I sure want to know if anyone else's KQ does this sputtering when they engage their OVER-RIDE button in LOW range Diff lock?

I dont want to take the quad into the dealership if its suppose to do this?

It sure dont seem like it should sputter when I have the OVER-RIDE button pushed in?

ANYBODY????

Bill

Muddy,

If I remember correctly mine did that also with 4X4 & DifLock. But I have since bypassed the switch and have not run into the issue since then. If you do decide to bypassed the OverRide button (Which I don't recommend.) Be careful of the KQ in Reverse. It will get squirrley on you at full power in reverse if you are not paying attention...!

Good Luck,

Hibrass

Hibrass,
thanks for the heads up in reverse, but I should be OK in ANY tranny mode with the by-pass.I instruct ATV safety classes for the State of Michigan.

How do I do this same by-pass?I dont like the sputtering at all.

Muddy,

LOL!

I guess you wouldn't have any problems. :-)

The override is pretty easy.. Just disassemble the the button on the bar (Watch for many small parts.) Then take the the two wires in the switch off and connect them together. Soldier and Shrink wrap and then reassemble and the switch in reverse order. If at any point you plan to sell it ,simply reconnect everything and your good to go.. I soldiered and shrinkwrapped mine just to avoid a failure point in the future but a little heat and I could reconnect it in about 30 minutes and a beer...

Sorry I don't have more details but it is pretty straight forward once you get into it.. Just watch for those small parts...

Good Luck,

Hibrass
