what is the top speed? is it a trail rider, a duner, cauz my friend thinks hes gonna blow my dads banshee away with his. just give me info on the 89' 250r

 

Depends stock for stock, the banshee would blow it away. But you can put alot of mods on those 250rs so if your stock and hes not you will get blown away.

A 250r goes 68 stock. Im saying around 75 on his if its modded a little. But if your bansh is maxed with mods. Dont worry you will walk by him

 

there's a post on this forum that tells you the top speed of every sport atv abck in the day... it was a speed trap done by dirt wheels many years back... if my memory serves my right for the 250's speed as are follows for stock quads:

tecate 4: 74mph
lt250r(87+) 72mph
trx250r: 71 mph

you could find the post if you use the search feature... i think it was from 2002/2003

 

btw.. realize mods don't give you a much faster TOP speed unless you gain RPMs... you'll gain a higher top speed when you make enough HP to run a higher gearing... (ex. 13/42 is the lt250r stock gearing... making enough HP to run a 14/42 will increas teh top speed noteticably)

 

12/42 is stock gearing not that it matters just letting ya know

 

Correct. I added a 13 tooth, and it let the bike revv smoother and longer, and i gained noticable increased speed.
