I have a chance to pick a couple of these up really cheap and wanted to know if they would be fun to dink around on. Wouldn't expect much out of them but the wife and eventually the kids could learn on them. Look small enough to toss around a bit.

Are parts etc still readily available?

The quadsports are AWSOME bikes. I have an '85 and I can play a round with 300EX's and Warriors with my DG pipe and K&N filter. Parts are readily available too.

 

The sport will be a good mount for that sort of thing. You can still get parts for them. Most dealers/shops will have to order stuff though as there is a good chance they don't stock much anymore. I haven't had any trouble getting parts for my 85 LT250R, and I would be willing to bet there are more sports out there than racers. You are right, they aren't real fast, but will surprise you what they can do and where they will go.
