Default flipped rims????

That why you use a steel valve stem and metal valve cap that has a hex style top so it ca be tightened. You are right on the valve being designed to work the other way however all valve cores are not to be a primary seal only a secondary, thats why you should use good chrome valve caps that have a seal inside.

I donno if this would work but I know a guy who flipped his rims and took his valve stem cap off and put a 1/8 washer on each stud. And it doesn't hit the brake caliper at all. But you could try that. Or you could put a couple of washers on each stud and keep the valve cap on so mud don't get in it. But thats just my opinion.

All you have to do is replace the old ones. You don't have to worry about plugging any holes, which may leak later or drilling holes in your rims. Yes it is a cheap way of widening your quad a little bit, but the bump stear gets a little worse. I've also heard a lot of people say that it will wear out your bearings faster, but I've had mine like that over a year and no problems so far.
flush valve stems are great

I turned mine around and gained just over two inches without wheel spacers in the front.
