Default Eiger problem?

A friend of mine has a new Suzuki Eiger. He bought it with the plow and winch installed. He's been having problems with it. It only has 21 miles on it. He said it won't start with the electric start, only the pull start. When he raises the plow the quad will sputter and backfire. He said he has to put it in nuetral and give it some throttle or it will stall out. He took it to the dealer for a recall about something else. He told the dealer of his problems. They checked the battery and told him to get a battery tender. So he did. He still had the same problems when plowing. He called and told them. They ask who installed the winch and plow. He told them they did. They told him to bring it in and they would go over it. This time they checked the battery and said it was weak.

It sound like to me that the problem was something with how the winch was wired up. Have any of you guys had this problem? I told him I'd post on here and hopefully have some things for him to check with the dealer about when he picks it up.

I liked how the dealer tried to blame him for installing the winch, when the dealer was the one that did it.

Default Eiger problem?

A friend of mine had problems with a winch that he had installed on a P650. The wires were to close to the muffler and melted the plastic coating on one of them. When it would bounce and touch metal it would short out everything. His was brand new also. Anyway, he took it back to the dealership and they found and fixed the problem.
As far as the stalling and backfiring, that sounds like something do with your choke. It may be possible that the winch is affecting the choke. I am not a mechanic so I don't know but I would ask the person you are dealing with if that is a possibility.

First, does the winch work with the key in the off position. If so, that will slowly drain a battery because the solenoid that controls the winch is always "on". Make sure the winch only works when in the key is turned to the on position(quad does or does not need to be running). If so, it is wired right. If it works while in off postion they need to wire it to a wire that is only hot when key is in the on postion. Make sure battery connections are all tight. This will run down a battery.

SPuttering and backfiring are carb problems. Could be dirt in the carb or more than likely the air/fuel mixture is off.
