I currently have a polaris 500 scrambler 2x4 and am going to sell it to look for a 500 4x4 utility that's sporty but also good for plowing snow, and the vinson comes to mind. Vinson owners-what your opinion. likes and dislikes with this model. And do you have a plow on yours. Thanks for your opinion!

We have an 05 Vinson auto that I recently mounted a plow on. The heaviest snowfall weve had since was ~8", the Vinson handled it with no problem. I would recommend using low gear when plowing. No real complaints about the Vinson so far, it gets good mileage, very sport like, good trail ride, and has plenty of get up and go. I am really starting to like the auto even though there is a belt that sooner or later will require a change, but changing the belt isn't a big deal to me. One thing that I would like is larger racks. If I decide to purchase another quad in the future the Vinson will be at the top of the list. Before I forget. On the issue of belts, from what I have gathered so far after visiting a lot of different forums it seems like the Vinson gets excellent life out of a belt. I dont think that expecting a couple of thousand miles out of the belt is unrealistic, (if you use low range for towing, plowing etc...)

Only a couple thousand miles. I would hope it would last longer than that. I put a lot of miles on a atv in a year. Right now I have a 2002 - 300 Kingquad that I have run for just a little over a year and a half now and have over 9,000 miles on it, getting closer to 10,000. Bought it in fall of 2003 new. Yes, I ride a lot. Mostly on gravel roads. Most times over 100 miles a trip. That would make for a lot of belt changes if I owned one of those.
Maybe I better stick with the old reliable standard shift.

I was being "ultra" conservative on that estimate Your right though both the Vinson, Eiger and the A/C 500 and 400's have typically had very long belt lives. Sounds like some of the big bore machines (V2 comes to mind) have been eating belts much faster than expected.

And I realize it's how you use the machine also. Take care of things and they tend to last a lot longer.

I have almost 1500 miles on my auto. I plow with it and ride all the time here in Alaska. I have had to replace the rear brake pads and the disk after plowing this winter. I have had no other problems. I do use low range when plowing.

Good luck!
Doug
