Suzuki KQ 700 Reverse Flaw BBB Action
#1
[This was posted by "LookOut" on the HighLifter Forum. I think it's a good idea just to make sure our problems and issues are documentmented independent of Suzuki. There are lots of concerned and P.O.'ed KQ 700 owners on lots of different forums. This is one way to organize/consolidate those problems].

Can't find who suggested this in a previous post (thanks), but I think as part of us getting organized and getting Suzuki to step up and do what is right, we should start filing our complaints with the Better Business Bureau. This is an independent government org that will hopefully help us get some results. At least our issue will be officially documented and not minimized and swept under the rug like what is going on with Suzuki.
I think there are a number of levels of the complaint depending on what you have experienced:
1) Suzuki is changing the reverse feature and detuning the performance of a performance machine that they have advertised as such. We had seen the adds, read magazine reports/tests, test drove the machine and based our purchase decision in part on that information/performance and reverse feature function (higher limit, no delay).
2) For those of you that have had reverse failures, Suzuki has replaced the failed (poor) components with the very same mechanical design.
3) For those that have had reverse fail after ECM change.....
4) For those that have reverse fail for the 2nd time....
5) (etc.)........
6) Safety Concern? It may not be a frequent occurrence, but it is a possibility. Think about it: You are in a situation where you have to get out of a situation fast and reverse fails or the delay kicks in because you mis-thumbed the override. Or you are way back in the sticks alone you get stuck and reverse fails. May sound like a stretch....unless it happens to you! I don't want it in the back of my mind.
I'm sure you get the idea.
BOTTOM LINE: Suzuki has change the product in a negative way as compared to that which we had originally based our purchase decision on. They have not made the necessary mechanical design and component changes to adequately correct the problem. They have not ensured the buyer that they will stand behind the known design flaw beyond their minimum committment of 6 month warranty.
I haven't contacted the BBB yet, but I'm on that path.
Their web address is www.bbb.org

Thanks for relaying this post. However, is this REALLY necassary? It sounds a little extreme to me. I kinda feel like I am taking my friend to court by going along with this. As for me...and I may stand alone on this...this is going too far. I'm the first one to demand something to be done...but this is ridiculous. Obviously....just my opinion!
