KING QUAD OR NOT
#23
It's a awesome machine, but wait for the 06. Reverse problem should be fixed and more aftermarket stuff available. Hopefully they make the reverse faster. Anyways, you will like FI. I think i get around 20mpg.

Well guys.....I could'nt wait any longer.....I called a dealer a few hours away that was recommended and he shot me a price out the door of $6440 on the Grizzly. I went to a couple local dealers armed with all my price lists etc, and the guy who advertises "will beat any price guaranteed" (Wheels USA in Oxford Mi). He said the price is not right. So I asked him how much a King Quad would be and he said $7300 but I can't sell you one right now because of the recall. So he asked if I would buy a Grizzly right now if he beat my best price....and I told him "sure....right now today". So he goes away from the desk with my paperwork, comes back and tells me that he cannot sell me the Grizzly for that price I have. He said I'm getting it for less than his cost (yea...right....). So I went home, called the shop that gave me the great price, and I will pick it up thursday! The search is finally over....thanks to everyone for all the assistance on making this decision. In as much as I really did want the KQ a bit more.....I feel better about having purchased the Grizzly instead. It would seem to be a more secure investment than a unit which has multiple issues and is getting a bad name because of it. Especially considering the price difference. And....I'm quite sure the resale on the Griz will be better two years from now when the next generation EFI machines are perfected and in every line.

..I believe you made the right choice, for the best resale value at this point...The Kingquad is a major "RisK factor" ,that we all will have to wait and see..what the future holds for resale..and IF the bearing is indeeed a FIX or not..

I would really be surprised if that roller bearing is not the solution to the KQ problem. Looking back to my engineering experience in special machine design it looks more than sufficient as long as it does get oil flow. Its too bad they limited the power to reverse.....but in light of the "big picture" on their problem I would doubt very much that they will ever change that back to its original settings. I bet theres a black market somewhere for the original non-limited ECM's. Hmmm....I wonder how many guys in the shops are sitting on an original unit in the bottom of their toolchest......meanwhile I'm a'fourwheelin fool without fear of breakdown......

No more Suzuki's for me. Making a design blunder is one thing, leaving your customers with a half-a$$ solution after detuning their machines is another. If Suzuki would have bit the bullet and updated our machines with the bearing fix, I think they would have made a lot of return customers plus sold a ton more machines. Instead, they have driven current customers away and many others have avoided the KQ all together by buying something else......their loyalties will be developed with another brand. This might make an interesting case study for a business school someday...."How not to take the quick, cheap way out........it costs much more long-term"! Who's running this company? Probably an accountant who doesn't understand relationship selling!!
