Attention LT250R Owners !

Attention to all LT 250R riders im in the process of a complete restore on my 92 LT250R and I need some suggestions and ideas on what to use and what not to use. I mainly started this thread to get all LT250R riders to post a thread or something showing all the different things you have done to your quads. There was a thread like this posted a long time ago but I thought maybe it was time to see what new things people have done. Im waiting on finding a frame so all pics and info is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

well im in the same boat as i am restoring mine too...just some first questions...whats your budget? would you rather have looks, performance, or better ride? I started out with a 500 dollar budget, and it now i am a little over a grand. Make sure you have enough money to replace all the bearings and seals, which on the chassis alone will come to be between 100-250 bucks. Bushings work great though, and i got all mine for 100.

just a question, why would your SN be 86LT250RQUADRACER when you have a 92? lol.. but anyway, replace piston, reeds, Get a carb re-build kit or a new carb, replace chain, get all new oil seals and gaskets for the engine, get all new bushings on the chasis, new tires/rims, new plastics, ect.

To answer your question 86LT250RFatty, when I joined this forum a long time ago when I was rebuilding my 86 the crappy part about that is I spent about $1000.00 rebuilding the motor and replacing every single bearing in the motor and on the chasis, and had it ready to fly, the same day I finished it I went for a ride in the dark and was hauling *** down the trail and didnt see a steel bar that crossed the trail with no flags or warning and hit that bar right in the open part of my helmet. So I had to retire it and let my face heal. After 3 weeks I went on vacation and someone came to my house and decided to steal my damn motor and nothing else. So I still have my 86 but its a rolling chasis. It will be a project for next year or something. After that I found a 92 LT that was all in one peice, but didnt run and leaked oil from the center of the motor, for $500. So I decided to start all over again with this one. Ive gotta admit though im impressed to see oyu in here still, considering you own a raptor lol.

When it comes to what kinda of budget im working with thats kinda hard. I work for a dealership and order alot of different parts from different distributors and get them for a whole lot cheaper than retail. But I noticed that parts for the LT's are not being listed as frequent in the accessories catalog as the years go by. So far im in the process of suping up the motor a little. The motor I bought was port and polished somewheres in California, and when they did that I also noticed that they bored out the stock 34mm carb to a 36mm carb but I dont llike it. I just got a new barnett dirt digger clutch yesterday, and some V-force 3 Reeds. So hopefully that will help a little. Im stil in debate about what im going to do about the air filter, I dont see enough room between the carb and the rear spring to put a clamp on filter on it. My next step is to order a Keihin 39 PWK carb kit from trinity racing. I also got in a new Hinson clutch basket, but im kicking the idea around to just send the clutch basket back and put the money towards the carb kit. Are those Hinson baskets worth it (performance wise) or should i take it back? As for bearings and all that fun stuff most of them have just been replaced but I think im going to get A-Arm bushings instead of bearings because they are alot cheaper. The crappiest part of this whole project is the fact that I just recently bent the hell out of my frame and im in the process of finding a new one. If I dont find one before the end of next week I think im just going to buy a new one. And my order of mods is Performance, Better ride and then looks. Although I just bought new Maier plastics for my 86 last year and I think im going to make those work. Thanks for all the input, keep it coming.

well if your not satisfied with the port n polish you have, then i would take it somewhere respectable and see if they can make it better...then i would say new carb, filter, and all that stuff and it sounds like you pretty much know what to do on the motor. Better ride...i got my rear shock revalved from Works because that was the cheapest i found, and then i bought stock 400ex shocks for the front. I wish i woulda had enough money to go with all aftermarket shocks, but this will do for the time being.

i'd still recommend pickin up a dirt wheels and going to the back section in the ads, and finding all the salvage yards and callin to see what they have to offer...I dont think a new frame would be worth it when u can get a perfect used one for a ton less.
