Grade 8 metric studs at NAPA cost less than 2 bucks a piece so don't use a cut off bolt. If you have stripped threads use Heli-Coil repair inserts they are stronger than the origional and you wont have any more problems. Second I don't think anyone has addressed the pipe question and I just bought a Paul Turner off of e-bay and after getting the silencer packing out of it, it rips I had a FMF before that and this thing kills that no question. You can get them at Duncan Racing and Ebay used. I just ordered a Fat Boy 2 silencer to match the pipe, I can't wait.

just like porting a cylnder i ported the Rad Valve with a dremel. on the intake side you want it ruff and dug out more flow on exhaust side you want it smooth and polished.

needa r i remember you from last year talking about the problems with thrust washers on your piston pin bearings and you not putting them in. did it blow up yet lol?

i have a modded 87 quadracer with race porting and fmf pipe and silencer. yeah it freakin rips but the engine is not as long lasting as a stock engine. we ran 30 tanks of gas throug it last year beating the snot out of it killing predators and 400ex's. the engine now needs crank work and a new bore and piston as its out of round.

if you are capable of working on it i say go for it, but if you do the mods and it dont work no garage will touch it. maybe a new quad is the answer?
