Problems with new (to me) 2002 Vinson
Hi all.
I just bought a 2002 Vinson on eBay in what appeared to be pristine condition. Everything looks perfect and it has about 300 miles on it. I did quite a bit of research before I made my purchase. I bought the thing on ebay and didn't get to ride it much when I picked it up. Now that I have it home, I took it out for a quick jaunt and discovered a clicking noise. It only seems to be there about half of the time. It appears the shifting mechanism on the front left fender is loose or something. When I jostled the shift ***, the clicking stopped. I drove it home and parked it in my garage. Now it won't even go into Park. The whole shifting system from L-H-N-R just seems sloppy. The guy mentioned briefly that there was a service bulletin by Suzuki about this problem, and that they would fix it for free, but that he wouldn't worry about it, because they would probably put it together worse than it was before the whole deal.
Has anyone seen this type of problem? I'd really like to get it working well. I tickled with the ATV in every other aspect. Would it be worth it to me to take it in to a dealer and have them go over the whole machine for a tune up type deal? I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that because it was so "new". Also, the ATV hasn't been ridden hardly at all for the last two years or so. Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty new to the whole ATV thing, so use small words and talk slowly. ok, well its not a quick fix sorry to say. this was a plague of first model years, belive me i know.
its a 10 hr job which involved splitting the case, and replaceing a bad shifter plate, mechinism, suzuki might still cover it, its your best bet, they did for me and had my bike for 4 mounths, buy i was like a little kid and wanted to ride so badily!

it was because my dealer were a bit on the a.ss side, and they were waiting for a fix from suzuki, 6 mounths warrentie ment nothing to me, being i got to ride the bike mabey 40miles in that time.....
right now they have the new parts, and can get them easily, so you shouldnt have to wait very long at all.
