lt80 topend filled with gas and oil
hey all newbie here, i have a 92 lt80 and it hasnt been rode for about a month. when i went to start it the pull starter wouldnt budge. i pulled the sparkplug and it was soaked with oil from the auto-luber (drained 1/2 a tank) funny story about how i found out about this problem. dont stand over the atv and pull the starter rope with the plug out. yea stupid i know. 92 octane and amsoil breakfast of champions. anyway, do i have to buy a block off plate or can i just pull the oil pump and tig over the inlet hole? i dont know much about these little beasts...tri-z man myself, any ideas, 1 why would the cylinder fill with oil and gas? 2 can the oil/gas mix make it to the bottom end? should i drain that oil too? thanks for all the help! larry

Not sure about your model year, but the older LT-80's would not dump fuel into the carb unless they were actually running. The fuel petcock wouldn't release the fuel unless there was vacuum pressure from the second hose running from the carb to the petcock. As far as the oil injector pump, consider simply not using it anymore and running premix in the gas tank. There are some old threads on the forum that talk about how to disable the injector system. I've also heard of people not doing anything to disable the injector, but simply running premix and not refilling the oil injector resevoir, but I can't vouch for that myself. On whether to drain the crankcase oil, why not just to be safe. Oil's cheap, and the procedure is easy.
