does anyone know how to put a light on an Lt80 I bought some small wattage fog lamps and wired them to the battery but they kill the battery rather quickly.Since this quad has electric start I am assuming a light can be added but my first attempt didn't go so well so I'm turning to the vast knowledge of atv connection members for help.

Howdy,

I put a small (35 watt or less) light on my son's,ran it like that for years,no problem.Make sure you run a small one, or it will use the juice from the stator meant to recharge the battery.

Hey guys thanks for the response I really appreciate it I hooked up two small car fog lamps and ran it to the battery I put a lighted switch on it and it seems to be okay I also talked to a guy at the local bike shop and he suggested only running one fog lamp so I don't kill the battery so of course my son promptly took care of the one light by crashing into a tree.what can I say KIDS now I know why some animals eat their young but anyway thanks again

spooge........
I just bought a 98 quadsport 80 for my second oldest son last night...................before reading your above post, I did the exact same thing!

I used two of the round "pilot" 55W driving lamps, with a flush mounted rocker switch........total cost..... $20.00.............

now the quadsport has that 400EX look

headed back to the autoparts store right now to get another set for my other sons 1990 quadsport........these things look almost factory!

can't wait for it to get dark!

Those lights look cool. What make are they? How did you mount them? Directly to the plastic or to the frame somehow? Did you wire them directly to the battery? Does it drain the battery at all? I would think 55 Watts would.

the lights are "pilot" name brand driving lights. I purchased them for 19.99 per set @ autozone........they have 2 sided tape on the base which allows you to keep them still while you drill holes, but I found the tape to hold just fine with NO screws........... they are pretty bright, and so far, about 20 minutes of use did not kill the battery. our trail rides often run into the dusk hours, but our goal is to get home when it gets dark.........not to keep riding.........for us, these lights work great & look cool too. I liked them so much, I put a set on both LT's. and YES, I wired them direct to the battery. the switch that comes with the lights is an "under the dash" toggle. I purchased a flush mount "rocker" switch & mounted it exactly where the key switch is located, but on the opposite side of the quad. good luck!
