HELP! I can't get my Zilla to start.
#21
The flywheel key is the d-pin thing I was talkin about. Well any way I took off the mag cover and could see the marking for the stators and they are off by about 3mm. I just got a lend of a pullers tonight and i will take off the flywheel tomorrow. And i agree the towin is not good I don't like doin it too much and I think the bike should start with a kick that is on of my reasons for doing a top-end rebuild because the quad was unreliable to start and I would be dissaponited when I do get the probs sorted if it does not be more reliable. Before if you didn't get the first 3 kicks right it would have to be towed and it could not be started by kick if it was stalled.

I'm really surprised you haven't gotten it to fire just a little bit. Here's an idea that I wouldn't normally recommend, but since you haven't gotten it to fire at all, it might be worth a try.
To determine if it's a fuel or spark problem, spray a little ether (starting fluid) in the cylinder through the spark plug hole. (Not too much, just a blip from the aerosol can) You might want to pour a few drops of 2stroke oil in the cylinder as well to prevent damage. Put the plug back in and kick it once or twice. If this doesn't start it for a couple of seconds, either you're spark isn't strong enough or somehow isn't timed right. Period. If it does work, your problem is somewhere in you're fuel delivery. You might try it again only spraying it in the airbox instead of directly in the cylinder. (You may have to kick a few times doing this method.) If it doesn't start for a few seconds again, you're not getting fuel. If it does work, it's either the fuel itself, your air/fuel mixture, or your gas/2 stroke oil mixture. If it's the air/fuel mixture, and you're pretty sure the carb is in good shape, make sure you're not sucking extra air in somewhere between the carb and jug from a loose clamp or a small hole or tear. Hope this helps.

Okay took it of today and found a mark somebody made before and I was 1mm out so I put it in place and gave it 2 kicks and she fierd up. Didn't run for long as I hadn't the throttle adjusted and she hadn't enogh revs. I let ya know once I tune up a few littel bits and I'll post pics in a week or two. And THANK YOU for the help, you were dead on 86lt250rFatty.
