Eiger front shocks
#1
A while back I was being a bonehead and did a donut in a gravel pit. The front wheel caught on something and the qud nearly flipped over. It seems that the little lapse in judgement caused some problems with the front diff (waiting to take into the shop to verify) and also caused the right front shock to leak. The shock seems OK but I definitely need to get it fixed. Is this something that a repair shop can fix or will they just replace it with a new one?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Most stock shocks are non rebuildable. Cheaper for the manufacturer, atleast in the automotive world; same should apply here. Sorry to hear about the diff issues. I've learned from the fine example that my bud Keith has made. DO NOT do donuts in a four wheel drive unless your on snow/ice. I'm glad you weren't hurt, and I hope it's not too expensive to fix.
**edit** Were you in 4wd when you were doing this?

I figured they were not rebuildable. Looks like I'll have to spring $200 for a new shock.
As far as the donut, I knew better than to stay in 4wd since the idea is to get the back wheels to spin the quad around. Hopefully it won't cost too much to get it fixed. Luckily, I can still ride in 4wd so all is not lost. And, luckily again, I was not hurt as I was thrown to the ground (except for my ego as my brother-in-law was watching and laughing). Thanks for the feedback.

Well it's just your pride, that'll heal w/ time I watched keith break a rip and put a nice gash in the back of his skull (well, we don't wear helmets, and don't get started on our safety levels, we know what we're risking every time we go out), after being layed up for two months the same thing. Well except this time it was a badly sprained wrist and a dislocated thumb. He's done real good this year though, but he hasn't been drunk on the bike yet. Coincedentally both these accidents occured w/ a high volume of Bud Light. But good luck w/ the bike, Me and Q are just waiting for Keith to tank it again. He sure is good entertainment.
